drumming circles

The Spirit Circle drumming circles offer women and men from young adults to elders a respectful, exhilarating space in the community to connect with ourselves, each other and the world around us through the drum beat - the heartbeat of the earth.

“Thank you for the drumming circle last night. It was transformational for me. I always loved drumming but never drummed in a circle with other people before. It opened me right up.”
~ Carol

In these gently guided drumming circles, I encourage spontaneous, reverent exploration of seeing where the songs and sounds of our drums naturally lead us. I invite you to bring your frame drum, djembe, doumbek, bongos, or any other type of drum and join us… all drums are welcome!

The Spirit Circle drumming circles are offered in a non-denominational and culturally sensitive environment, and are adult-only unless otherwise noted.

No experience? No problem at all. You don’t have to know how to drum to be a part of this circle. There’s no right or wrong way to drum and no pressure to perform. Just start with tapping hand or beater to your drum, and you’re on your way!

If you haven’t been to one of our drumming circles yet, please come. They’re a lot of fun, and you never know what amazing things you’re going to experience.

“When the drum beats it resonates beyond your body. It becomes the heartbeat of Creation as it was meant to be. To sing with it is to offer a blessing to all that is and to receive blessings back. It’s why drums echo. Put your hand on your chest. Close your eyes. Feel the drum in your chest. Sing with it…and blessings are born.
~ Richard Wagamese - Ojibway Author, Storyteller

If you don’t have a drum, I may have a few extras. Please contact me ahead of time and I’ll see if there’s one here for you to use during the circle. If you have more than one drum, please let me know if you’ll be bringing them so I can coordinate sharing them with others when needed.

(Other instruments have made their way into our drumming circles, including flutes, moroccas, digeridoo, tambourine and even a slidewhistle!)

“Typically, people gather to drum in drum “circles” with others from the surrounding community. The drum circle offers equality because there is no head or tail. It includes people of all ages. The main objective is to share rhythm and get in tune with each other and themselves. To form a group consciousness. To entrain and resonate. By entrainment, I mean that a new voice, a collective voice, emerges from the group as they drum together.”
~ Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart

Donations of $5 are gratefully accepted. If you’re able to contribute, it’s welcome. BUT…

If you aren’t able to contribute monetarily, please come anyway - I don’t want money to stop you from being able to benefit from our drumming circles. Perhaps you could contact me to volunteer to help or contribute in another way.

The Spirit Circle drumming circles don’t require pre-registration, though I’d still appreciate if you’d let me know you’re coming in advance so I have an approximate head count. If you’re not sure if you’ll be able to come, please let me know you may be attending, and then feel free to come or not.

I look forward to you joining us for the Spirit Circle drumming circles. Welcome!
