Stone Spirit Carvings
Raised on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Sean grew up respecting and feeling connected to the ocean, forest and all who dwelled in them.
He was first drawn to soapstone carving as a youth, enchanted by the story behind a sculpture he was introduced to from Northwest Territories.
In later years his journey of self-discovery led him toward healing and growth through creativity. A friend and spiritual advisor suggested that he play more, sing more, and let his hands express what his mouth could not.
Sean was given a piece of soapstone and told to “scratch at this a bit and see what comes”. Many hours and a room full of dust later, Sean and his first Stone Spirit creation emerged.
Today, he continues to honour the gift of healing and growth that has been given to him, and shares it through his Stone Spirit carvings.
