Living In The Moment
© 2004 Renée DeakinLiving in the moment: a pause in time, an opportunity to reflect, to notice, to become mindful and mind-less all at the same time. An opportunity to become still enough to notice the precious details of life all around. A respite of peace and enchantment with the sacredness of all that is happening in this very moment. "Those who are awake live in a state of constant amazement. Eat and be fully conscious of what is being eaten. Cry, giving full attention to the tears and welling emotion. Make love with passion and utter abandon. Shop for groceries, tie your shoes, mail a letter... in everything you do, be fully present. Live life to it's fullest potential. Nothing is mundane. Realize that there are no ordinary moments. "The more faithfully you listen to the voice within you, the better you will hear what is sounding outside. And only she who listens can speak. Slow down enough to appreciate inner and outer silence. Silence of spirit allows a perspective of quietness and confidence. Watch. Listen. Pause. Breathe. Do not presume you are here to take. Simply BE in harmony. There is great power in now, for it is the only moment in which exists choice. Do not keep one foot in "yesterday" and the other in "tomorrow"; you can imagine what you're doing on "today". Each and every moment presents a new choice - a new opportunity. Change is inevitable. Embrace it. Flow with it. Be fully in the moment, whatever the experience. Keep your head in the clouds and both feet planted firmly on the ground. All that you learn spiritually doesn't mean a thing when it is not integrated into daily life. Live in the moment. Important word: LIVE. Live consciously. Live with awareness. Live in joy and in sorrow, in peace and in struggle. Live out loud. Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW!!! - what a ride!"
