Where We Live
© July 2003 Sean J. Deakin

We all have one physical body that we live in. How we treat it has a direct connection with our spirit.

If we mindlessly consume chemicals and ingest toxins, how can we expect our spirits to thrive? Stepping away from the fast food, fat food way and being aware of what we are putting into our bodies will affect our minds and spirits. Our Earth provides great sustenance and nutrition. Eating healthily is not a difficult thing to do. Choose a salad instead of fries, or grab a piece of fruit to go instead of stopping for a treat at the corner store. Eating food slowly and mindfully is satisfying and gentle on our bodies.

Rest and activity both have a tremendous effect on our spiritual and mental condition. Proper sleep and restful downtime are essential to our well-being. Test this theory yourself: Don?t sleep for a few days and see what happens to your mind and emotions! Physical activity in any form is appreciated by our bodies. Becoming aware of our movements and listening to our body as we exercise integrates our spirit with our physical form.

Caring for our bodies with the intention of body/mind/spirit wellness brings an amazing sense of joy and contentment. If we don't care for our bodies, where will we live?

On a spiritual journey since the early 1990's, Sean Deakin was called to work with and offer support to troubled souls, especially in the addictions field, personally and professionally. Beginning in Calgary, this work has taken him to live in southeast Asia and then back to Canada again. His love for the ocean makes Sean happy to call his birthplace of Vancouver Island home once again.
